Register for business texting (10DLC)

Complete US carrier registration so your texts send reliably instead of getting filtered.

In the US, phone carriers require every business to register before it can text from a local number. This is called 10DLC. You submit your legal business details and a sample of the texts you send, the carriers review them, and once approved your messages are trusted instead of filtered as spam. It is a one-time setup, and approval usually takes a few business days, so start early.

You can keep using the rest of Catchdesk while registration is pending. This step only gates business texting from your number.

  1. 1

    Open SMS registration

In the web dashboard, go to Settings, Connections, then SMS registration.

  2. 2

    Enter your legal business details

Provide the exact legal business name, your EIN (US) or Business Number (Canada), the registered address, your website, and a contact name and email. Use the details from your government registration.

  3. 3

    Describe how you text customers

Choose the type of business and add a sample message, for example an appointment confirmation. This shows carriers what your texts are for.

  4. 4

    Submit and track the status

Submit the form. The status in Settings moves from submitted to approved. If reviewers need more, it shows action needed.

  5. 5

    Fix anything that is flagged

If the review comes back, the usual reason is a detail that does not match your official records. Correct it and resubmit.

Notes

  • Your legal name, address, and tax ID must match your official registration exactly. A mismatch is the number one reason a review stalls.
  • A working website and a real, clear sample message help approval. A parked page or a vague sample can slow it down.
  • Your tax ID is stored securely and used only for this registration. It is never shown to customers.
  • There is no separate sandbox to test in. Approval is what turns on reliable texting, so register as early as you can.
  • Canadian businesses do not need 10DLC, but Catchdesk still sets up a business texting profile the same way.
